The actress was awarded an Academy Award as Best Supporting actor for the 1988 film The Accidental tourist for playing Muriel Pritchett, a character in Beetlejuice. She was also nominated for the Golden Globe Award in recognition for her role on A League of Their Own. She played the lead role in Beetlejuice which was an American horror-comedy film released in 1988. The film was written and starred by Tim Burton. Davis was awarded numerous awards both for her performance on the screen as well as on TV. Her work was noted as a strong, authentic female characters and for her advocacy on behalf of women who worked in the business. Early on, she developed a love for music.
